Relocation & Settling In

The moving to Berlin checklist, every box ticked for you.

The list is long, the deadlines are real, and every task is in German. We take the whole moving-to-Berlin checklist off your desk, the Anmeldung, the bank, the insurance, the Steuer-ID, and hand it back done, in a fortnight rather than months.

The Berlin reality

The paperwork doesn't wait, and it doesn't queue in English.

Berlin gives you fourteen days to register your address. Miss the window and the fine is real, but the deeper trap is that every task depends on another you haven't finished yet.

The Anmeldung needs an address and a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung. Your bank account and Steuer-ID need the Anmeldung. Your salary needs the bank account and the tax ID. Health insurance is expected to be in place before any of it. And the appointment that starts the whole chain, the Bürgeramt slot, is released in tiny batches, gone within minutes, and conducted entirely in German.

It's a sequence built by people who already understand it, for people who already do. Handled well, the first fortnight is quiet and quick. Handled alone, it can swallow a month.

We start the chain for you, and hold every link.

The engagement

Pre-arrival plan, appointments held, offices handled, in German.

One team runs the whole sequence, in order, from before you land.

  1. The pre-arrival plan

Before you land, we build your personal moving-to-Berlin checklist around your address, your start date and your family, and tell you exactly which documents to bring and which to leave at home.

  2. We hold the slots

The Anmeldung is required by law within fourteen days of moving in, and Bürgeramt appointments vanish minutes after release. We secure a slot inside your window while you're still in the air.

  3. We prepare the file

Forms completed, your Wohnungsgeberbestätigung chased from the landlord, passports and lease gathered, so nothing sends you home from the counter to fetch a missing page.

  4. We accompany you, in German

We meet you at the Amt, speak for you, and see the Anmeldung stamped. From there the Steuer-ID arrives by post, and the bank account and insurance fall into place in the right order.

  5. You're set up in days

SIM, home internet, Rundfunkbeitrag and utilities all registered, every confirmation kept in one place. Life in Berlin switched on, in days rather than months.

What you get

The whole first fortnight of admin, done for you.

  • Anmeldung, booked and attended

We hold a scarce Bürgeramt slot inside your 14-day window, prepare the forms and your Wohnungsgeberbestätigung, and sit beside you at the counter.

  • A German bank account

Opened and usable, the account your landlord, your employer and the Finanzamt all quietly expect you to have.

  • Health insurance, chosen well

Clear guidance on public versus private, gesetzlich or privat, for your situation, then the enrolment handled before it gets urgent.

  • Your Steuer-ID

The tax identification number behind your first legal, fully-taxed German payslip, tracked from the Anmeldung to your letterbox.

  • SIM and home internet

A German mobile number the same week, and a home connection ordered early, before the notorious multi-week installation queues bite.

  • Rundfunkbeitrag & utilities

The broadcast fee, electricity and gas registered correctly, so nothing surfaces later as an avoidable letter or fine.

  • Translation at the Ämter

Every form, letter and official conversation handled in German and explained back to you in plain English. No guesswork.

  • One team, one thread

The same small team from your first message to the last box ticked. You never chase a German office alone.

Why us

We know the corridors, and we keep it quiet.

We spent years in Berlin's hotels and hospitality, where good service is the kind you never notice happening. That's the habit we bring to the Ämter.

The offices aren't glamorous, but the discipline is the same: know the process cold, turn up prepared, keep it calm, and keep it private. We know which office moves fastest, which form the counter will reject, and how to be the easy appointment of their morning. You'll never appear in our marketing, and neither will your paperwork.

Questions

The questions we're asked most.

Do you actually come to the appointments with me?

Yes. This isn't advice by email. We book the Anmeldung, prepare your file, meet you at the Bürgeramt and handle the counter in German while you're beside us. You leave with the registration certificate in hand.

How quickly can the Anmeldung be done?

Once you have an address and a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung from the landlord, it can be a single appointment, sometimes within days of arrival. The bottleneck is never the form; it's the slot, and holding scarce slots inside your fourteen-day window is exactly what we do.

Can you start before I arrive in Berlin?

That's rather the point. We build your checklist, gather your documents and secure the appointments while you're still packing, so the first fortnight becomes a formality rather than a scramble. Most of the chain is set up before you land.

What if I speak no German at all?

Then we're your voice. Every form, letter and official conversation is handled in German and explained back to you in plain English. You're never left guessing what an Amt has asked for, or why.

Is this suitable for families?

Especially so. Registering a spouse and children, the Kindergeld paperwork and school enrolment multiply both the appointments and the forms; we handle them together, in the right order, so no one in the family is left uncovered.

I don't have an apartment yet, can you still help?

The Anmeldung needs a registered address, so the flat comes first. If you're still looking, our Managed Apartment Search secures one, and the landlord's Wohnungsgeberbestätigung with it, and the arrival package begins the moment you have keys. Taken together with the move itself, it becomes our full relocation service: one team, one thread.
